SCOPE OF POSITION:

Reporting to the Installation Foreman and Technical Consultant, the Labourer supports AMBICO’s Local Sales & Service team through the accurate receipt, organization, and staging of doors, frames, hardware, and partitions. This role focuses on general labour, including material handling, stock room organization, kitting, and staging orders for pickup and delivery. The Receiver/Labourer helps ensure that LSS orders are prepared efficiently, accurately, and safely to meet customer requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with preparing and laying up hardware, doors, and frames for projects, kitting complete packages for efficient pickup/delivery, including welding parts as required.
  • Perform light preparation work such as cleaning, deburring, labeling, and packaging components as required.
  • Stage orders in designated areas, ensuring materials are properly identified and protected from damage.
  • Receive all inbound materials (doors, frames, hardware, partitions, accessories), verifying quantities, inspecting for damage, and documenting discrepancies.
  • Move, sort, and store materials safely using handling equipment.
  • Manage the hollow metal/hardware stock room, ensuring items are organized, labeled, and maintained at accurate stock levels.
  • Record receiving transactions, material movements, and order staging details in inventory systems accurately and on time.
  • Support cycle counts and assist with inventory reconciliations.
  • Work collaboratively with LSS staff to prioritize orders and resolve issues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, offering suggestions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and workplace organization.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Other related duties, as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent knowledge and experience.

  • Postsecondary training in welding or fabrication is an asset.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a plant/warehouse environment handling receiving, inventory, or materials.
  • Knowledge of commercial hardware and hollow metal door & frame components, an asset.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Experience using inventory systems is an asset.
  • Read, Write and Speak in English

WORK CONDITIONS:

 

  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 23 kg.
  • Regular exposure to noise, dust, and shop environment conditions;
  • PPE required at all times, including the use of full face respirators.
  • Shop/warehouse setting with seasonal temperature variation.
  • May be required to travel locally for service calls.
  • Must work on site from Monday to Friday.
